The GREAT Academy uses Edgenuity 2020 as its core curriculum.  Edgenuity 2020 is a nationally recognized computer/web-based curriculum which provides course offerings that  provides each student with a results-oriented individualized program that is tailored to meet each student’s needs.  GREAT Academy students are required to complete a rigorous scope and sequence in each subject, exercise strong written and verbal communication skills, implement research skills and demonstrate academic skill mastery in each content area.  Each student is assessed for skill development and content understanding, and student progression is self-paced.  Mastery and demonstration of concept cognition, as well as content mastery, is verified by end-of course performance assessments.  Course completion is based on content mastery.

The Edgenuity 2020 online courseware is led by highly qualified master teachers with a unique approach of combining best-practice pedagogy with next-generation technology that enables students to learn at their own pace and to make meaningful academic gains. With state and federal mandates requiring schools to make adequate yearly progress, student achievement scores, drop-out rates, and students failing to graduate are of great concern. The Edgenuity 2020 courseware supports a "failure is not an option" approach by ensuring that students master the content of each lesson in the core subjects before progressing to additional lessons.

The Edgenuity 2020 multimedia-rich, virtual classroom engages students in the learning process through animations, simulations, video-based presentations, online content, vocabulary development, and exploration activities that support each lesson presented by the virtual classroom teacher. Online embedded homework, evaluations, and other activities reinforce student understanding with content mastery that is measured and ensured through formative and summative assessments delivered for each class segment.
